I can't believe the time has finally come. We've been in the planning stages for this adoption for the last 9 months or so. I know that's short compared to some adoptions, but it seems like forever to us!! Beth and I talked for years about how awesome it would be to expand our family through adoption, but only last summer did we feel that the Lord was truly calling us to this.
We are set to leave Nashville this Friday, May 13th. We'll fly to Chicago where we'll catch a 13 hour flight to Beijing. When we arrive in Beijing, it'll be 3:00 in the afternoon on Saturday...but 2:00 in the morning Nashville time. I'm not sure how our bodies are gonna respond to that!! We have a little over 2 hours in Beijing to change planes...and airlines...to board our flight to Nanchang where we'll meet our daughter on Sunday afternoon.
In Nanchang, we'll be staying at the Galactic Peace Hotel. It's supposedly a five-star hotel. We've heard that people smoke everywhere...even in the elevators. That makes me concerned about Beth and Blake, who both have asthma. Please pray that the smoke doesn't affect their lungs/breathing. From what we understand, there's not really such a thing as a non-smoking room in China!!
We'll spend the first week in Nanchang, then leave on Saturday morning for Guangzhou where we'll spend the second week. We arrive back in Nashville around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 28.
Right now things are crazy around our house. We're making several lists...for things we need to buy and things we need to pack and for things we need to do to make sure everything's taken care of for Gabe and Hallie while we're away. It'll be a relief to finally board that plane on Friday!!
A HUGE "thank you" to all our friends and family who have given us their support and encouragement over the past several months. We appreciate your continuing to lift us up in prayer.
Prayer Requests:
--for safe travel...to/from China and while there
--for Gabe and Hallie...comfort and good health while we're away
--for Blake's health in China...that he won't have any breathing problems
--for Beth...to calm her nerves about a long trip and two weeks away from family
Yay! So excited for you guys! Will be praying for safe travels and good health all around. :) Kim and Megan
